Discover Teaching
A national ‘Discover Teaching’ campaign aimed at recruiting and retaining teachers in Wales was launched 14th March 2017 at the Education through Regional Working (ERW) education consortia conference at the Village Hotel, Swansea.

The campaign is jointly funded by Welsh Government and by the four education consortia across Wales, Regional School Effectiveness & Improvement Service for North Wales GwE, Education Achievement Service EAS, Central South Consortium CSG and ERW.

The main objectives for the national campaign are to encourage more people to train to become teachers, to retain existing teachers and also to encourage teachers to return to Wales.

It aims to fill vacant posts, something which schools and local authorities are finding increasingly difficult.

Betsan O’Connor MD ERW noted “this is an opportunity for us to work together and make sure that people who want to progress their careers and those who want to teach in an exciting and changing environment, such as that we have in Wales, can access the information required easily.”

A new fully bi-lingual Discover Teaching website has been created as part of this multi-platform campaign, showcasing real life teachers across Wales highlighting their passion for teaching and their own personal routes into the profession.
