Chris Cherry,  Cert. Ed,  Dip Maths Ed.  M.Ed.
 
Chris has a broad and diverse career profile in education.  He is able to draw from over thirty years of influential leadership and collaborative work in a variety of roles and settings, including two successful primary headships in the North West.  Headship followed a period as one of two deputy heads of a very large 9-13 middle school in an outer London borough and four varied primary teaching posts.  After over ten years as a primary head, he was approached to become Senior Education Consultant within a commercial consultancy practice, developing a strong track record of successful, client-driven, consultancy work with schools, colleges and local authorities.  In 2000 he left to form his own independent school improvement consultancy, specialising in the primary sector.  As a School Improvement Professional he carried out a wide range of contracts and commissions, working as an Associate for some of the largest educational outsourcers. 
 
Relevant Experience:
 
2005 to 2011 - Primary School Improvement Partner (including work as a Challenge and Development Adviser, providing intensive support to vulnerable schools) involving over 50 primary schools across Staffordshire, Gloucestershire, Birmingham, Sheffield and Coventry.
 
2000 to 2013 - Advanced Skills Teacher Assessor involving nearly 500 cross-phase assessments and including 2 years as a member of the National AST QA Team.
 
2000 to 2007 – Trainer, Course Director, QA Director and practitioner for all three strands of Performance Management (PM Consultant, Threshold Assessor and External Adviser) - Fast-track Assessor and Regional Co-ordinator – NPQH Tutor, Coach and Assessor – Tutor and Assessor for the Certificate of School Business Management – HLTA Assessor and moderator – plus a range of work for the National College for School Leadership, The Specialist Colleges Trust and the National Strategies.
 
In 2011 Chris joined Ormiston Academies Trust as Senior Primary Consultant, leading school improvement work in primary schools to develop capacity, improve outcomes and promote effective phase transition in some of the most socially disadvantaged areas in the UK.
 
Chris has recently qualified as an Estyn System Leader Inspector.
