South East Wales A Level results

A summary of the outcomes from provisional, “on the day” results indicate that the A Level results in the Level 3 threshold of 2 A Levels A*-E have declined slightly in the region this year. Please note, these results are subject to change before the final results are available from Welsh Government.

97.2% of pupils achieved the Level 3 threshold, a slight decrease of 0.7 percentage points from last year’s figure of 97.9%. This figure includes all examination board results.

There was an increase in WJEC exam entries across the region of 3.9% from last year, compared against a drop in entries across Wales of 6.3%.

The following figures are based on WJEC examination board results only and are also provisional and subject to change:

The proportion of students achieving a pass grade at A Level (Grades A* - E) is 97.1%, slightly below the Wales average of 97.7%.

The percentage of those gaining an A*-A is 18.4%, a decrease on last year’s 23.7% and below the Wales average of 25.0%.
