Clerks' Corner

The EAS provides a Clerking Service which is available to all Schools in the region via a Service Level Agreement.

Clerks are required to attend all meetings of the full governing body, they provide accurate minutes of the meeting and advise the governing body on matters of procedure.  The Clerk provides a crucial link between the school governing body, the EAS and the Local Authority.

The new national model for improving schools in Wales recognises the essential role that Governing Bodies play in promoting high standards through focus on school improvement, and the Clerk to the Governing Body is a key factor in ensuring this.  The Welsh Government has introduced mandatory training for Clerks.  If you are new to the role of Clerk to The Governing Body you are required to complete the session within one year of being appointed.  Training sessions are provided by the Governor Support Team please contact governor.support@sewaleseas.org.uk to reserve a place.

The following web pages have been developed to support Clerks in providing high quality support to the governing bodies within South East Wales.
