Hayley Davies-Edwards

Hayley has experience in England and Wales in four quite different 11-18 schools, in a variety of environments, including a rural and a London school. She has had senior leadership experience focusing on improving standards and teaching and learning, including responsibility for Literacy, KS3, KS4 and KS5.
Hayley’s career for the past decade has been in Local Authority School Improvement, where she was the Manager of the School Improvement Team at Wokingham Borough Council. In this role, she successfully led the team in supporting and guiding both Secondary and Primary schools in attaining amongst the highest standards in England. Hayley was also a key player in the strengthening of the local Federation of Secondary Schools, and the Primary Clusters, which has enabled schools to work much more collaboratively on all aspects of improving provision and standards.

Hayley worked initially as English Adviser within her LA, gaining a reputation for promoting practical approaches in the classroom and galvanising the English team in both primary and secondary across the LA. Within this role, both writing and the achievement of boys improved significantly in local schools.

Following this, Hayley became the manager of the Advisory team for all subjects, with an expanded brief of developing school leadership, including developing key networks and a well-received leadership training programme. Latterly, Hayley was the lead for school improvement, with a strategic brief around developing effective school leadership.  Hayley’s work in supporting strategic school improvement was further expanded when she completed a 7-month secondment to Blaenau Gwent Local Authority in 2014, where she was the acting Head of School Improvement.  Since joining the EAS in 2012, Hayley has been a Primary and Secondary Challenge Adviser, a senior Challenge Adviser and now fulfils the role of Principal Challenge Adviser attached to Newport LA.
