Emma Willmott Bsc (Hons)
Emma started her teaching career in 1994 as a Chemistry teacher and later Head of Chemistry at a secondary school in Newport. Whilst teaching in Newport she won the Teaching Award for Welsh Science teacher of the year in 2002.
Emma spent 5 years as Head of Science at a school in Bridgend before taking up post as a Science consultant for the Secondary National Strategies at Cornwall LA. In Cornwall she supported schools which fell into the National Challenge category as well as leading on project to get more learners to achieve level 6 and beyond in Science. She returned to Wales in 2009 to take up the post of School Improvement Adviser at Newport City Council with responsibility for Science and Assessment for Learning.
Emma has had extensive experience in improving outcomes for learners in schools that serve areas facing socio-economic challenges.  As an Adviser she has enjoyed supporting Headteachers, Senior Leaders, staff and pupils in all aspects of school improvement and across all phases. Emma is also a Secondary School Inspector.
