Andras Luka

I have recently started working for EAS as their Secondary Specialist Adviser for Science.

I have been a Science teacher for just over 20 years. I was lucky enough to start my teaching career in Bettws High School in Newport, and spent 4 fantastic years there. The school had a significant impact on me, making me a confident and professional practitioner. After Bettws I spent one year teaching in Stanwell School in Penarth. This provided the springboard to my first Head of Science role at Trevethin Community School. Supported by a wonderful Science Adviser, other Heads of Science in Torfaen and the two Assistant Heads in Trevethin, I soon became a confident leader. I then moved onto a new challenge in Cardiff, and became the Head of Science in Michaelston Community College. This school rose out of the ashes of the old Glan Ely school that failed to come out of special measures. I spent four years at Michaelston, and after successfully leading the department through an Estyn inspection, I was ready for my next challenge, and moved to Willows High School. I spent a little over eight years in Willows as the Head of Science before needing, and taking on my next challenge, that as an adviser.
